Today i took delivery of the Akasa P2NES integral HD enclosure for 2.5" laptop drives. it accommodates both IDE and SATA units and offers externally USB 2.0 and eSata connections (the latter only for SATA internals). Here are some unboxing pictures and first thoughts.

Unboxing

you get a nice box, usb cable, another usb cable with a power connector (for supplementary power) and an eSata cable. also a nice manual. supplied is a leather-effect pouch that protects the unit from scratches when transported and also offers limited extra cushioning.

i fitted the sata driver that came out of the western digital enclosure that died when i dropped it. hopefully this new metal one will be more robust.

Operation

Worked first time. remember to set the little switch to USB. powered the drive from a single USB cable. throughput gated by speed of drive fitted and host USB adapter.
